Life in Green Hills has given Sonic a place to settle down, but he wants to show that he can handle the responsibilities of being a hero. That opportunity arrives with Dr. Robotnik, who has found a partner in Knuckles. The two are searching for an emerald with enough power to wipe out civilizations. Sonic joins up with Tails, and the search takes the pair far from home. Finding the emerald before Robotnik does becomes the most important test of Sonic’s readiness to take on a threat of his own.
