Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the U.S.S. Enterprise crew are en route to the honeymoon of William Riker and Deanna Troi on her home planet of Betazed when Starfleet informs them that a coup has installed Shinzon as the new Romulan political leader. Shinzon claims to seek peace with the human-backed United Federation of Planets. Once in enemy territory, Picard and his crew make a startling discovery: Shinzon is human, a slave from the Romulan sister planet of Remus, and shares a secret, shocking relationship with Picard himself.
