Set in 2017 a.t.b., this side story unfolds in Europe as the Holy Britannian Empire's forces overwhelm the allied nations of the European Union. With defeat looming, the E.U. army creates a special unit called W-0, which includes a young pilot named Akito Hyuga. Leila Malkal, a former Britannian aristocrat, comes to the E.U.'s aid and commands the Wyvern Knightmare corps, made up of Japanese teenagers. They plunge recklessly into battle, where the survival rate is extremely low—about 5%—fighting for their freedom and for a home to which they can return.
