Abie's pawnshop sees several amusing gags, including a tough character who appears to be holding up the shop but is only selling his gun. Then Abie meets Kitty Dolan, whose father is running for alderman, and it's love at first sight. A rival candidate causes trouble by planting a bomb in the shop, but Abie turns the tables on him. On election day, Dolan's followers are too lazy to vote, so Abie stirs them up by offering to lick them and then runs to the polling place with the mob at his heels. Dolan wins, and so does Abie.
