Annie is a happy, tough foster kid navigating New York in 2014. Left as a baby by parents who promised to return, she has endured a hard-knock life with her mean foster mother, Miss Hannigan. Everything changes when hard-nosed tycoon and mayoral candidate Will Stacks takes her in as a thinly veiled campaign move, advised by his VP and scheming campaign advisor. Stacks sees himself as her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured, sunny outlook might flip that role.
