After years apart, brothers Ilmar and Alex come together in their parents' home in a quiet 1950s Estonian town. Ilmar, once a promising artist, has just been released under amnesty from a camp where he was sent for a youthful prank. His older brother Alex is more reserved and prefers compromise, making him Ilmar's opposite. Their reunion turns into conflict, worsened by the fact that Ilmar fell in with repeat offenders in the camp, who now threaten him with violence.
