In a world reshaped by economic collapse, the powerful organization Unicom has outlawed computers and robots to preserve "life, liberty, and the pursuit of economic stability." A Unicom Synth robot infiltrates a southwest TV station and kills its manager, a revolutionary opposing the gestapo-like corporation. A lowly Unicom delivery man must then help the remaining station staff survive the approaching "thermal storm."
